Needle Felt Pet Portrait Workshop in Cumbria

Over the course of the day, with Jane's expertise and guidance, you'll see your beloved pet (or chosen animal) slowly appear beneath your fingertips as a 2D needle felted and 'painted with wool' picture.

Needle Felt a Herdwick Sheep

Learn how to paint with wool to create a beautiful Herdwick sheep, crafted with real wool fibres into a hessian background.

Over the duration of the day Jane will show you how to create a 2D Herdwick head using the needle felting technique.  You don’t need any drawing skills,  and everyone is welcome.

'Needle Felted Sheep Portrait' - 'The Cheviot' with Helen Hammond (low relief)

Spend a lovely day being guided through how to make this very popular native Sheep breed  'The Cheviot' using the needle felting process. The piece will have a slightly sculpted low relief appearance, subtly enhancing the natural features and onece mounted, will give the appearance of almost escaping from the frame!

Paint, Print and Stitch with Kay Leech

Paint, print and stitch a canvas with Kay Leech

Paint, Print and Stitch Workshop in Cumbria

 A lovely day with Kay being guided through the process of creating using paint, then print,and stitch. Working in mixed media you will create a picture based on flowers, you can bring your own image or use one of the ones provided for inspiration.  

You will paint the background directly onto calico and then add layers with simple stencils and print blocks that you have created.  Finally you will add stitch which can be machine and or hand embroidery and embellish with beads and buttons.

Flowers in the Landscape' in stitched collage with Kay Leech

 Spend a creative day with Kay developing a fabric collage picture embellished with flowers.  With Kay's expert guidance you will create a layered background and flowers using water-soluble fabric and free-motion embroidery.  Your picture will be mounted on a stretched canvas frame.

Bring your sewing machine with feed dogs that can be lowered and be equipped with a free-motion embroidery foot.
